Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from hard floors and carpets, and they're very adept at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we evaluated the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and may have issues navigating across surface transitions like hardwood to rug.
iRobot suggests cleaning the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it might come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the bin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is empty it goes back to its docking station and automatically empties its dirt into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning the area where it left off. The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and direct your robot by voice or via the app.
The i7+ is quicker and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin that eliminates a major source of maintenance and reduces the amount of time spent cleaning.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. When connected we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households however, it can also fit nicely on the coffee table or shelves that you can spin around like a magic wand.
The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide power without fading for 60 minutes. This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeably superior on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums the 694 is an affordable model that's a great option for those who don't want to spend too much money on a robot. It was able to remove the majority of types of debris in our tests, and frequently went over the same area several times for an efficient clean. Its flat front side helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls and walls, which is a nice addition.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it lacks the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, such as our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series.
